Emergency fund calculator

An emergency fund = money covering 3–6 months of essential expenses, kept within instant reach. Enter your household's monthly expenses to see your target — add your monthly saving to get a timeline.

Fund size

Why 3–6 months?

Three months of expenses covers most everyday blows — a broken washing machine, car repairs, a short gap in income. Six months brings calm even through job loss or longer illness. With an unstable income, aim for six. Keep the fund separate from your current account, ideally in a savings account — reachable, not locked in investments.

How to build it faster

The most reliable way: transfer the saving right after payday (not "whatever's left") and find two or three expenses you can cut painlessly. A month or two of honestly tracking your spending will show you which ones.
